Your largest organ deserves better🤮

I was recently complimented on how my skin was glowing! 🥰 Then a follow-up question was asked "Do you use Vaseline for your glow? "

Can anyone guess what my response was? 🤣

‼️Let's talk about that well known and L♡VED jelly‼️

Vaseline, also known as petroleum jelly, is a staple in many households. It’s marketed as a healing, moisturizing product—but what is it really?

🧪 What is Vaseline?

Vaseline is made from petroleum, a byproduct of the oil refining process. Yes, the same industry that produces gasoline and motor oil. It was first discovered as a residue on oil rigs and later refined for consumer use.🫢

🤷🏾‍♀️"But wait‼️ No one has ever told me that it's bad for me. Why are you saying it's toxic?"🤦🏿‍♀️

1️⃣ Derived from Crude Oil

While Vaseline is "purified," it's still a petrochemical. Depending on how it's refined, it may contain PAHs (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons)**—known carcinogens.

2️⃣ Creates a Barrier — But Not in a Good Way

Vaseline forms an occlusive layer on the skin. This traps moisture—but also toxins, sweat, and bacteria, preventing the skin from breathing and detoxifying. 🤮 Your skin is an organ and deserves the same love as other members of your physical team.

3️⃣ Hormone Disruption

Some studies suggest components of petroleum-based products can act as xenoestrogens, contributing to hormonal imbalance, especially with long-term use. Hello excessive estrogen!

4️⃣ No Nutritional Benefit to Skin

Unlike plant-based oils and butters, Vaseline contains no vitamins, antioxidants, or nutrients. It’s an inert filler—doing nothing to heal or nourish the skin. Check out some of the things below if you want to really feed your skin.

5️⃣ Environmental Impact

Petroleum products are non-renewable and contribute to environmental pollution. Every jar supports fossil fuel extraction and refinement.

6️⃣ Contamination Risk

If not properly refined, Vaseline may contain residual toxins that are harmful, especially when applied to broken or sensitive skin. Think you had skin issues before, 🤔 think again.

😠 "What's a safer alternative to Vaseline for me to use?"

Glad you asked!

♡ Shea Butter– Rich in vitamins A & E, heals and protects. My number 1️⃣ go to for almost EVERYTHING skin-related.

♡Coconut Oil – Antibacterial, moisturizing, and anti-inflammatory. Some people notice that it can be drying. If you're the some people, don't use it.

♡Calendula Salve– Great for sensitive or irritated skin. I'll be sharing an herbal remedy in HERBS101.

♡Beeswax Based Balms – Create a natural barrier while nourishing. There are some vegan options available.

♡Jojoba Oil – Closely mimics skin’s natural sebum.

Your Skin Deserves Better. Don’t be fooled by shiny marketing. Just because something has been used for decades doesn’t mean it’s safe. Reclaim your skincare routine with natural, plant alternatives that nourish, heal, and support your body—not toxic fillers from the oil industry.

And yes, I have this available for you to add to your wellness routines!
