Everyone LOVES chocolate!

Almost everyone.

Word on the street is we're about to have a wintry mix of snow and ice. Sooo, I thought I'd share a delicious and healthy recipe for an herbal hot cocoa. Connecting with herbs doesn't always have to be a bitter experience.

Now...run to your herbal apothecary and refrigerator to grab these special items! It's time to enjoy a little sweet herbal healing😊

Ingredients:

▪︎2 cups almond milk (unsweetened or but we love vanilla)

▪︎2 tbsp cacao nibs (raw and unprocessed for a rich flavor)

▪︎1–2 tsp coconut sugar (or adjust to taste)

▪︎1/2 tsp ashwagandha powder (calming adaptogen)

▪︎1/2 tsp maca powder (energy-boosting and hormone-balancing 😉)

▪︎1/2 tsp kava kava powder (for relaxation; optional. Use sparingly and see caution)

▪︎Pinch of sea salt (to enhance the flavors)

Instructions:

Blend cacao nibs and almond milk: In a high-speed blender, blend the cacao nibs with the almond milk until smooth. This step helps infuse the cacao flavor into the milk.

Pour the blended milk into a saucepan and heat over medium-low heat. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

Time to level things up! Blend in ashwagandha powder, and maca powder. If you're using kava kava, add it now as well. Sidenote: this herb will create a brief numbing effect with your tongue and throat. That's normal and a clue of how it works with your nervous system. It's been traditionally used as a natural muscle relaxer.

Stir in the coconut sugar, adjusting the sweetness to your liking.

Let the mixture gently simmer for about 5 minutes to infuse the flavors fully. If there are bits of cacao nibs remaining, so what! Drink them too.

Pour into your favorite mug and enjoy warm. For an extra creamy touch, you can froth the mixture before serving.

Optional toppings: Add a dollop of coconut whipped cream or a sprinkle of cinnamon for a decorative and flavorful finish.

If you make it, let me know!

.............

Caution: Use kava kava sparingly and consult a healthcare professional if you are on medication or have liver concerns, as it can interact with certain medications.
