What's really up with this seed?
Milk thistle has been traditionally used for years as a restorative yet gentle, cleansing herb with an affinity to the liver and digestive tract. There's also an understanding that it may protect the liver from damage created by ingested toxins such as alcohol, recreational or pharmaceutical drugs and even environmental toxins such as heavy metals. A compound in the seed is known to displace toxins attempting to bind to liver cells as well as help to increase levels of antioxidant properties ultimately reducing harm from free radicals. Some research suggests the potential of milk thistle containing cytotoxic properties on cancer cells. These little seeds also have anti-inflammatory properties which may help to support skin irritations too.
