Having trouble breathing?

There's something going around and it's affecting a lot of people. Big humans. Little humans. It's not discriminating. So I wanted to share a few herbs that you should lean on if your respiratory system needs a little support.

First up:

Mullein 👉🏾 Known for its soothing properties, mullein is often used to alleviate coughs, bronchial congestion, and inflammation in the respiratory tract. It helps clear mucus and ease breathing.

Next up:

Thyme 👉🏾 A powerful antimicrobial herb, thyme helps fight infections in the respiratory system and can ease symptoms of bronchitis and colds. It also acts as an expectorant to loosen mucus.

Then:

Eucalyptus 👉🏾 The herb is amazing but in this case the essential oil of is more effective and commonly used to clear nasal passages and ease breathing. Its active compound, eucalyptol, has decongestant and anti-inflammatory properties. An herbal steam/tent video coming soon🤞🏾

Got to mention:

Peppermint 👉🏾 it contains menthol, which helps relax the respiratory muscles, open up airways, and soothe irritation. It is also beneficial for clearing congestion and reducing inflammation.

Now:

Licorice Root 👉🏾 has soothing and anti-inflammatory properties that can help with respiratory issues like sore throat, bronchitis, and coughs. It also acts as a mild expectorant. Oh, and this sweet root doubles as a powerful antiviral.

And:

Wild Cherry Bark 👉🏾 Do you remember taking cherry flavored cough syrup? Well, this bark was traditionally used as a main ingredient in cough syrup. Wild cherry bark is known for its soothing effect on the respiratory system. It helps suppress coughing, reduce inflammation, and calm irritation in the throat and bronchial passages.

Finally:

Elecampane 👉🏾 a warming root that works to get things deeply rooted in the lungs out! This root serves as a potent expectorant and lung tonic, helping to clear mucus and support respiratory function.

Now, I know you're wondering now what?

Make a tea or decotion (a REALLY STRONG TEA). Choose one or a few to add to some hot water, steep and drink.

Here's a soothing respiratory tea for you to try:

🫁 Respiratory Support Tea

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon Mullein

  • 1 teaspoon Thyme

  • 1 teaspoon Licorice

  • 2 cups of water

Instructions:

  1. In a pot, bring 2 cups of water to a boil.

  2. Add the herbs to the water and reduce the heat to low.

  3. Cover and let the mixture simmer gently for 10–15 minutes.

  4. Strain the tea or use one of these special straws I'm always raving about.

  5. Sweeten with Elderberry syrup (if you have some) if desired, as it also has soothing properties for the respiratory system.

  6. Sip the tea slowly while it’s warm.

Enjoy this tea up to 3x a day or at least every

4 hrs until things improve.

Caution: If you have high blood pressure, leave out the Licorice or reduce to 1/4 tsp. For some people, it causes water retention elevating pressure.
