Know the assignment BEFORE sending in the troops🫡

When your body sparks a fever, it’s not breaking down…it’s breaking through.

A fever is one of the body’s ancient healing tools -a built-in heat shield designed to weaken pathogens and activate immune intelligence.

Instead of fearing a fever, try honoring it. With mindful support and the right botanicals, a fever becomes an ally, not an enemy.

🤒 Fevers can be very beneficial and here's why:

1. Strengthens Immune Response

Higher temperatures activate white blood cells and speed up immune defenses.

2. Makes the Body Unlivable for Invaders

Many viruses and bacteria struggle to survive heat.

3. Boosts Detoxification

Increased circulation and sweating help push out toxins.

4. Deep Rest & Repair Mode

The body reassigns energy to healing when fever rises.

5. Hydration Awareness

Fevers prompt thirst, guiding you to fluids that support recovery. This is THE time when water really is your bff.

I'm reading your mind. Trina! But what do I do?

Run to your apothecary and grab some herbs!

These herbs support the fevering process without suppressing it — helping the body move through heat with ease, balance, and comfort.

1. Elderberry

A powerful antiviral berry traditionally used at the first sign of illness. Supports immune function, reduces viral replication, and helps shorten the duration of fevers and respiratory symptoms. If you have Elderberry Yum in the fridge, get on it right now. If not, check out my other post and make your own.

2. Elderflower

A classic diaphoretic that gently encourages sweating, helping the body release heat and regulate temperature naturally.

3. Yarrow

Stimulates circulation and helps move heat outward, potentially easing fever intensity and improving thermal regulation.

4. Peppermint

Cooling, soothing, and helpful for headaches, nausea, or digestive upset that can accompany fevers.

5. Ginger

Warming and circulatory-stimulating; helps promote light sweating while relieving nausea, chills, or body aches.

6. Lemon Balm

A gentle antiviral and nervine that calms restlessness and supports relaxation during feverish states.

Now listen. There's a few other remedies that you can incorporate to help support your body during this moment of imbalance. And they can supercharge your HEALing experience.

💦Hydration time

Coconut water, herbal teas, broths, and electrolyte-infused drinks keep fluids balanced while the body sweats.

Avoid sugary drinks, sodas, and dairy-heavy beverages.

🛀Warm (Not Cold) Baths

Support comfort with lukewarm water infused with chamomile, lavender, or ginger.

🌱Herbal Compresses

Use cloths soaked in peppermint, chamomile, or lavender tea and place them on the forehead, back of neck, chest or feet (I'll be posting a real good one next week).

😴 Deep Rest & Low Stimulation

Fevers are energy-intensive. Sleep, quiet, dim lighting, and minimal activity help the body self-regulate heat and heal faster.

🥣 Nourishing, Easy-to-Digest Foods

• Garlic + onion soup

• Citrus or berry tonics

• Steamed leafy greens

• Applesauce or baked apples

• Warm oats with cinnamon and honey (optional but really REALLY helpful if you have an herbal infused one. I have an Echinacea & Black Seed one available)

These deliver vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants without overwhelming digestion.

🌬️Using an essential oil diffuser

Diffusing oils like Eucalyptus, Peppermint, Lavender or Tea Tree helps moisten the air with liquid medicine, supports breathing, soothes nasal irritation, and prevents dryness.

I'm not opposed to seeking ⚕️medical attention. In some cases, it's necessary. So here's my thoughts on when to seek support for the 🥼whitecoats:

• Fever lasts more than 72 hours

• Temperature exceeds 103°F

• Dehydration signs appear

• Fever accompanies neck stiffness, confusion, or breathing difficulty

• Child under 3 months has any fever

A fever isn’t something to fear — it’s the body turning up its inner fire to burn away imbalance. With supportive herbs like elderberry, elderflower, yarrow, and ginger, along with hydration and rest, you help your body complete its healing cycle with strength and ease.
